“Journalism is for all.”
Guided by our motto, JourKnows is opening its recruitment year-round, because we believe journalism is for everyone, at every time and at every stage.
We’re building a more inclusive journalism community. At JourKnows, it doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or have no experience at all. Here, you can learn, grow, and find your voice, one step at a time.
Despite the many challenges we’ve faced, JourKnows continues to exist because of the people who stayed beyond the bylines—the ones who believed in our potential despite our shortcomings, and who saw what we could become even while we were still finding our way.
Now, we want you to be part of that journey.
Join a community where you don’t have to be the best writer, the most experienced journalist, or the most confident person in the room. You just have to be willing to learn, ask questions, grow, and tell stories that matter.
At JourKnows, we believe journalism is for all, and there’s always room for you in the byline.
Here’s what’s happening.
JourKnows is taking the next step in developing its community by offering monthly training sessions facilitated by our section editors. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to sharpen your skills, these sessions are designed to help you learn the fundamentals, develop your craft, and become a more confident storyteller.
But journalism doesn’t have to end in the newsroom.
Volunteers can also take part in our extra-editorial activities, where we bring journalism beyond the newsroom and into the community. Through Inkpact, our upcoming community outreach initiative, we hope to organize journalism-related activities for orphanages, elderly homes, and other communities in need.
Inkpact is tentatively set to launch this September, giving our volunteers another opportunity to use journalism to connect, serve, and make an impact beyond the byline.
And by November, JourKnows will release its first newsletter, featuring stories from local communities and voices that often go unheard. Through this platform, we hope to bring meaningful stories closer to our readers while giving our volunteers another space to practice their craft, connect with communities, and tell stories that matter.
And we mean that literally.
Whether you’ve covered a press conference, written your first article, picked up a camera for the first time, or have simply always wanted to tell a story, you have a place here.
JourKnows’ year-round recruitment is tentatively scheduled to begin on Friday, Sept. 4.
Just come as you are. Bring your curiosity, your initiative, and your willingness to learn.
We’ll let your story, and your initiative, speak for itself.
