The Mayon Volcano exhibited continued volcanic activity after the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) released images of lava effusion and strombolian eruptions at its summit crater late Friday night, July 17.
According to Phivolcs, the activity occurred between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., showing lava flowing down the volcano’s slopes accompanied by bursts of glowing fragments from the crater.
Alert level 3 remains in effect over the volcano, indicating a high level of unrest and the possibility of hazardous eruptions.
Under this alert status, residents are advised to stay away from the designated danger zones due to risks of lava flows, pyroclastic density currents, and rockfalls.
