Shares of the SpaceX company climbed nearly 20 percent during their public market debut last Friday, officially lifting chief executive Elon Musk to the status of the first trillionaire in history.
The massive stock listing raised more than $75 billion after the company initially priced its shares at $135 each.
Following the opening bell on the Nasdaq exchange, the stock price peaked at $176 before ending its first active session at $161.50 per share.
This initial market gain quickly drove the total value of SpaceX past the $2 trillion threshold.
In addition, financial data trackers confirmed that the stock rally pushed Musk’s personal net worth to an estimated $1.1 trillion.
During a launch event in Starbase, Texas, Musk stated that the company remains focused on its long-term goals of transporting humans to the Moon and Mars.
Meanwhile, market analysts noted that the high valuation relies heavily on long-term goals like satellite expansion and orbital infrastructure.
To fund these massive projects, the company chose to go public despite losing $4.9 billion during the 2025 fiscal year.
Ultimately, financial experts expect this historic launch to spark a broader wave of major technology listings in the coming months.
