The Philippine National Police (PNP) received 20 firearms registered under Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa’s name at his address in Barangay Ma-a in Davao City.
According to a statement from the PNP, Dela Rosa handed over the firearms to the PNP Regional Civil Security Unit in Region 11 (RCSU 11) through a legal representative.
The PNP issued acknowledgement receipts to Dela Rosa’s camp before the firearms were transferred to the RCSU 11 office at Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido in Buhangin, Davao City.
Afterwards, the Civil Security Group carried out a safekeeping process in Davao City.
“The process was conducted in an orderly manner, ensuring that all procedures were properly observed and documented,” said PNP.
Last May 27, the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) revoked the firearm licenses and registrations of Dela Rosa.
It was pursuant to Section 4(g) of Republic Act of 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. As mandated by the law, the FEO or RCSU 11 must seize 117 firearms registered under Dela Rosa’s name, under the FEO order.
Dela Rosa, who has an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) over alleged crimes against humanity, is currently in hiding.
