An unbeaten run that lasted months finally came to an end.
Determined to play spoiler to a seemingly perfect season, the Falcons refused to blink, turning a shaky start into a historic triumph against a Team Liquid PH squad that had long forgotten the taste of defeat.
The question of who possessed the sharper competitive edge was settled on the Land of Dawn, as the Falcons pulled off a gritty 2–1 reverse sweep during their MPL Philippines Season 17 encounter at Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City on Saturday, May 2.
The victory sent shockwaves through the standings, with the Falcons becoming the first team to snap the reigning two-time champions’ unbeaten run, which had stood since October 2025.
Beyond the massive upset, the win officially secured the Falcons’ spot in the postseason, extending their dominant winning streak to seven matches and improving their record to 8–1.
The Falcons (8–1) were initially pushed onto the back foot after Team Liquid’s Alston “Sanji” Pabico delivered a clinical performance in the opener, using Yve to dismantle their formation and draw first blood.
However, the tide quickly turned as Salic “Hadji” Imam and Michael “Kyle” Sayson led a composed resurgence in the succeeding games, wresting momentum away from the “Cavalry.”.
The pivotal moment came in the 14th minute of Game 2, when Kyle’s Guinevere unleashed a massive Violet Requiem that caught three heroes— sparking the comeback and forcing a decisive Game 3.
Kyle remained the focal point in the decider, piloting Suyou to a clutch triple kill that cleared the way for a complete team wipe and the series-clinching victory.
The win highlighted the Falcons’ evolution into a disciplined powerhouse, as Kyle outshined Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno in the jungle and finished both winning games without conceding a single death.
With Liquid’s dominant streak finally halted, the race for the Season 17 crown is now wide open, as the Falcons carry “giant-slayer” momentum into their next blockbuster matchup against defending M7 World Champions Aurora Gaming PH.
